Field Support Technician China



The job holder will be a member of the Service & Support team and will be based largely overseas at high profile customer sites. He/she will be an excellent communicator and will ultimately ensure that innovative technology is upgraded and maintained efficiently and within the parameters of the Service Technical documentation.
All upgrades and Field Service notes will be completed in a timely manner and to the strict Work Instruction and Operational Procedures as set out by the Head of Customer Support. The job holder will work independently but also operate as part of the larger team of engineers. He/she will have daily contact with the customer and will ensure the compliance to quality standards such as QMS and ISO9001:2008 and to ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and submitted on time.
Our machines are very clearly specific to as they are based on a large family of patents. Given the unique nature of products and processes, each installation, upgrade and support of our machines is also unique.
This position is a critical role in our organization as it is key to ensuring our machines are kept upgraded and to the latest specification as released by our in-house engineering and R&D teams. We therefore require the services of adaptable Service Technicians to be willing to travel constantly on a global basis to upgrade and maintain our machines on customer sites.
Their considerable knowledge of our products, processes and application which they acquire over the course of their employment with will prove invaluable in this role as to will communication with the engineering and R&D teams be pivotal.

Main Responsibilities
The upgrade and implementation of Field Service Notes at customer sites – 75%
Machine maintenance & support – 10%
Completion of Support documentation – 10%
Effective liaison with the customer ensuring customer satisfaction and minimum downtime – 5%

Additional Responsibilities
Assist Global Operations in Field Support activities.
Assisting the Engineering and R&D teams in projects and activities as and when required.

Academic Qualifications

HND / HNC in Electrical / Electronic Engineering

Essential Experience & Skills
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Service & Support role covering the following:-
3 phase electrical engineering in an industrial environment
Vacuum processing technology / semi-conductor industry
Customer involvement.
Must have excellent verbal communication skills
A proven ability to understand and interpret electrical & technical documentation
Must be PC literate and demonstrate a good working knowledge of MS Office.
Ability to work overseas for extended periods of time and additional hours as required
Ability to understand electrical wiring diagrams
Desirable Experience & Skills
Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD)
Vacuum processing technology / semi-conductor industry
Machine maintenance
Machine testing protocols
Key Performance Indicators
Meeting deadlines of project milestones
Daily and weekly reporting activities
Updating of the Service & Support Database
Ability to deliver to specification

Salary: £25k-30k dependant on experience, daily travel allowance, and other costs associated with travel ie: flights, taxi’s and hotels will be covered
