Purpose of the job
The Plant Manager manages the production area so that workplaces are safe and teams are motivated and enabled to perform their work on time, quality and cost. She/ He leads KPI based performance measurement and improvement (PDCA), especially HSE, Productivity, Quality and Responsiveness. She/ He enables supervisors teams to perform high quality work, ensures adequate resource planning, competence development and ensures that committed targets are achieved.
Key responsibilities
Organize the activities of the production department in the designated area in such a way that in all phases of the contract the project accountability is made clear to the entire organisation.
Provide immediate feedback on any existing or upcoming issues in production that could affect delivery, quality, productivity or cost to all other involved departments.
In conjunction with supporting functions manage the workforce to ensure that production plans are achieved and appropriate information, communication, training and instruction are given to the workforce.
Ensure that production operates according to the company standards in quality environment, health and safety.
Maintains quality control within company quality and contractual guidelines. Evaluates and improves methods on a continuing basis.
Implementation of process improvement utilizing Kaizen principles in the production area and ensure that the projected performance improvement in terms of planning, KPIs and budget are reached.
Create and sustain a strong team culture amongst the workforce in order to ensure an open exchange of information within the production organisation.
Promote training for improving /increasing skills within her/his team. Maintains discipline and directs workforce in a manner consistent with company policies. Encourages teamwork and empowerment of production employees and team leaders.
Qualifications
Technical University level education.
Min. 5 years relevant work experience.
Broad knowledge of manufacturing & quality processes
Experience in the area of Quality and Methods or Production Control.
Experienced in management by KPIs to achieve and enhance operational excellence.
Labour relations and shop floor management experience.
Working knowledge of Lean and Kaizen methodology with proven achievements.
Knowledge of value stream analysis.
Good English language skills.
